Hackers force companies. Their cybersecurity expense grows constantly.
Recent hacks highlighted the weaknesses of cybersecurity measures in many companies. Starting from this, as a lot of recent reviews show, companies started thinking about their own cybersecurity tools. The result is obvious. The amount invested in cybersecurity grows along with their concerns of other attacks (look at the Italian hack directly to the country). According to Gartner, a company that focuses its attention on market research, in 2017 cybersecurity expense will reach 86.4 billion. They also show that this trend is not going to stop. In 2018, forecasts show another increase for 7 billion. What drove companies to these investments? Everything related to the recent cyber-attacks in 2016 and 2017. In particular, they have been upset by the two recent events: WannaCry and Petya.
CyberSecurity expense: investments: something to face hackers
As several experts say: hacker’s activities and cyber-attacks are meant to increase significantly (just look at the mobile ransomware related data). The conversion to Industry 4.0 will expose industries to more and more dangers. Internet of Things tools, as robots are potentially vulnerable because of the always-online requirement. Forecasts are vitally important and reassuring. They show how companies gain awareness of this situation and understand the opportunity and importance of diversification and investing in this field. This is not an obvious element at all. The situation, just a few months ago, was hugely different. Despite several warnings, companies did not invest in cybersecurity and did not plan to.
CyberSecurity expense: what companies should invest in?
What do we hope for? We believe that in order to guarantee a true change investments should focus on people. People are the weak spot of all organizations.
